Rockville is one of Maryland's largest cities and is the county seat of Montgomery County. It occupies 13.03 square miles within the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and is located 12 miles northwest of the nation's capital. A major portion of the prestigious I-270 corridor is within the City's corporate limits.The City of Rockville operates under the council-manager form of municipal government and derives its governing authority from a charter granted by the General Assembly of Maryland.
